ST. MARY’S CONCERT.

One of the moot .successful juvenile conceits given iocnlly took place under the auspices of the sisters of St. Mary's Convent in the Town Hall i>n Thursday night. A large anil appreciative audience greeted the raising of the curtain. The stage was beautifully decorated with llowers which gave a very pleasing and artistic setting. The orchestral opening was greatly appreciated. One of the most spectacular items of the evening was the dancing of “The Old Lancers” by the tiny tots. The costumes were very effective and the graceful movements of the little ones reflected credit upon the promoters. A well harmonised quartette entitled “Awake" was much appreciated. Painoforte trios, duets, solos, a' very enjoyable farce, an action song by the infants and a violin duet completed the lirst half, the audience demanding several encores. The second half was devoted entirely to an operetta entitled “Snow-White.” Here, again, much pains had been taken in the preparation of costumes, and tuition of the children. All were conversant with their parts and everything went without a hitch. A pleasing feature of the concert was the promptness with which everything was done. The Convent is to be congratulated upon the care and attention given in developing the musical and histrionic " talents of the pupils. Some of the musical and elocutionary items of the pupils was a revelation to the audience, while the deportxnnt of the little ones was nut overlooked. The concert, on the whole, was full of merit and the appreciation of the audience was unstinted.
