GAS WORKS.

OCTOBER WORKING. The amount of gas manufactured during the month of October was 471,400 c.ft. which with the amount in the holder on October Ist, 10,400c.ft. made a total of 481,800c.ft. During the month 397,000 feet were used by consumers, 19,000 ft. in street lamps, 26,000 ft at the works and there was 11,200 ft. in the holder on November Ist, leaving 28,600 ft, equalling 6 per cent, unaccounted for. Forty-two tons of coal were carbonised during the month, yielding 11,220c.ft. to the ton. The earnings for the month totalled 1255 5s Od and were made up us follows:—Gas sales (lighting, £l2l 10s Id, heat and power £llO 2s Id, coke sales £2 14s, tar sales £8 9s, fittings £lO 19s Id, labour fittings 11s 9d, miscellaneous 19s Od, a total of £255 5s od. 'ffie' expenditure for the month totalled £233 15s and was made up as follows :Coal £l6O 12s lOd, salaries and wages £53 4s sd, fittings £7 4s sd, engine repairs 3s, ft. oil 13s Bd, repairs plant 3s 3d, cartage and freight 5s lOd, working expenses £1 10s 10d, insp. machinery 2s Od, ft. and charges oxide £0 15s lOd, disinfectant £2 18s, interest and sinking fund £59 11s Bd, a total of £233 15s.
