Several cocaine tragedies have occurred while the commission of the League of Nations has been discussing measures for the suppression of traffic in drugs. One of the saddest of these is the case of a young bride at-Lugano who was discovered by the bridegroom in the act of sniffing “snow'” at the altar. The man refused to proceed with the ceremony, and left, the church with his relations and friends who approved his decision. A remarkable story of a man who in the frenzy of nightmare, stabbed himself near the heart comes from Paris. Pierre Prevent, dreamed [hat he was being pursued by a posse of bandits, who threatened him with the most horrible kind of torments unless he gave up a certain secret. Seizing a knife lie stabbed himself near the heart, and in a serious condition, was taken to the hospital. On the eve of her wedding a girl named Amelia Rio, 20, living at Port Louis, in Brittany, killed her twelve-years-old friend Edvina Kerlo, because the latter had caught her stealing. Pretty Edvina was found lying dead on the lloor of her mother’s shop a few days ago. Amelie, a beautiful girl with auburn hair, who was a frequent caller at the shop, declared that on the day of the murder she had seen a gypsy leave the a few seconds before the crime was discovered. But the police suspected her. On account of her approaching marriage it was thought that she would be anxious to obtain money. She went to Mine. Kerl'o’s house and admitted that she had killed Edvina because the latter had seen her while she was stealing money from the till. She was immediately arrested and repeated her confession to the police.
