COTTAGE GARDENS COMPETITION.

The Cottage Garden classes, in connection with the E.H.A. Summer siiow, were judged on Saturday afternoon, Mi' J. A. MeCrea of Palmerston North. Eleven entries were received, an increase of live on last year. Air A. Speiis trophy was won by AH V\. Trueman, Mr D. Whibley coming second. Mrs Austin -Johnston's, trophy (vegetables only) was won by Alx C. Rand, with Air H. C. Clinberg next in order. Generally speaking, the vegetables were oi line quality and variety and were very well forward. The judge remarked on the neatness oi the gardens, but observed that the flowers were not as good as tliey miglrt be,
