LABOUR’S COMPLAINT. The Executive Council of the American Federation of Labour has issued an address to the American peo]>le, calling upon all members of the federation and oilier citizens to demand of their Senators and Congressmen that the Volstead Act be amended, says “The New YorkTiines Current History.” It declared that its investigations had shown that there had been: — 1. A general disregard of the law among all classes of people, including those who made the law. 2. Creation of thousands ,of moonshiners in both country and otiy. 3. The creation of an army of boot loggers. 4. An amazing increase in the traffic in poisons and deadly coni' actions and drugs. 5. All increased rale of insanity, blindness and crime among the liters of these concoctions and drugs. (i. Increase in unemployment due to loss of employment by workers in forty-live inductrie- directly or indirectly connected with the manufacture of liquors. 7. Increase in taxes to city, Slate and national Governments amounting to approximately 1.000,4-11.4 l-r dollars a year. The American Federation of Labour represents 4J million workers who have tested Prohibition and found it wanting. Vote Continuance.
