The first cricket match under Ilorowhcnua Cricket Association took place on Victoria Park on Saturday when Foxton met and defeated Weraroa, neither team put in their full strength but a good game resultfd. Four of the 1 oxton team did not turn up and their /.laces were taken by Walls, Vestwood, Procter and Morgan. At Levin on Saturday Y.M.C.A. defeated Shannon by 30 runsY. knocked up 05 in the first innings and Shannon’s reply tallied only 35. In their second innings, Y.M.C.A. put together 04, leaving Shannon to get 95 to win in less than an hour’s play. This they very • nearly achieved, the score being 93 for three wickets when stumps were drawn. The match was decided on lirst innings.
