SHORT WEIGHT BUTTER.

SUCCESSFUL APPEALS,

Christchurch, Last Night

Mr Justice Chapman has allowed the appeal of the Central Co-opera- ; five Dairy Company, against its donvietion ’for selling short weight butter. The judge held that the de- ! fe'n'dant company was entitled to have the result of the weighing ot six other packages of hutter put before the Court and in the event of the result being favourable, he thought the regulations contemplated that in case of goods like butter, the weighing of all the packages should be as nearly as possible contemporaneous and weighed on the same scale.' Considering the high standard of the company, His Honour held that the case was not proved.

A similar appeal by the Timaru Dairy Company was also allowed.
