THE MANAWATU SEAT. Air W. Murdoch, Aloyor of Levin, opened hi* campaigiyas n candidate for the Manawatu seat last week. A[r Alurdoch said he was standing as a Liberal candidate, which party he had supported as far back as 1890. At the conclusion of his address several questions were put to Mr Murdoch. Air Randall: T was under the impression you were one of Air Holland’s supporters at a general election f'sorne. years hack? Air Murdoch: I supported Air Hindmarsh, but not Air Holland. Air Randall: Didn’t you offer to support him? Air Alurdoch: Never! Mr Randall: Did you .contest a municipal election with Mr Holland in the Labour interest? Air Alurdoch: Quite true. But it will be the last time. I was “sucked in.” It was an arrangement between all Labour bodies to contest the election. Air Downes: Would.you vote with the Government on a no-confidence motion if moved by Air Holland? Air Alurdoch: Depends what it was. Air Murray: Are you contesting the election by invitation of the Liberal Party? Air Alurdoch: I am contesting the seat by invitation of Shannon residents. No more questions being asked, Air Randall moved, seconded by Mr Downes', a hearty vote of thanks to the speaker, which was accorded by acclamation.
