The most serious competitor was the Argentine, which had a never failing supply of excellent cattle. The Argentine companies, by their complete and continuous control of the volume of the exports, really decreed the fate of the beef trade m the United Kingdom. The Australian frozen beef was now ot an all-ronntl better, quality than the Argon! me. yet so much harm had been done to its reputation by unloading old stocks that prices wore generally lower than for Argentine. The hitter’s propaganda was excellent and well, worth copying. Argentina was also making great strides in supplying ihe class of mutton best suited to the English re(|Uirelneuts.—Press Association.
