WELLINGTON, Sept. 27. In reply to questions in the House to-day Ministers gave the following answers: That full investigation is made in all cases where an application is made under the hardship clause of the Public Expenditure Adjustment Act, and each case is dealt with on its merits. That it is not at present considered necessary to compel all borrowers from the State Advances Office to insure against fire with the State fire office. That the contribution from New Zealand officially notified by the League of Nations for 1922 is £5300, and that amount has been paid. The Government is asking the High Commissioner to ascertain if the allocation of the levies has been revised. That the New Zealand Government is already co-operating with the Imperial Government on its overseas settlement scheme, though some important details suggested by the Government of this country have not yet been agreed to in their entirety. That the whole matter of the introduction of legislation to remove sex disability in respect; of appointments of Justices of the Peace is receiving the consideration of the Government.
