LAND TAX PROPOSAL.

Wellington Last Night. The recent Taxation Committee’s report stated that as the graduated land tax as a present imposed is not in the best interests of the country, inasmuch as it tends to restrict production and enterprise, that a tint rate should be substituted. This point having been brought to the Premier’s notice by Mr E. Newman. Mr Massey replied that, the Government does not see its wav to ask Parliament to amend the law in the direction suggested.
