OPENING OF BULLS GREEN.

Despite the threatening appearance of the weather yesterday, Bulls Bowling Club had a very successful opening, the rain keeping off in that locality. Visitors were present from Fell ding, Marton, St. Johns (Wanganui), and Foxton. The opening ceremony was performed by the president, Mr Mansell. The green was in excellent condition for a new lawn, and played splendidly. Ain excellent afternoon tea was provided by the ladies. Foxton played two for and two against, the skips being Christie and Holland, and resulted in a win for Holland’s team, 24 to 20; tie on the 19th head, and a close' game throughout. The Reform and Labour candidates for Manawatu occupied the position of leads in this match. Mr Mansell (president), during the opening ceremony, presented the Town Board with the deeds of the section adjoining the bowling green to be used for croquet lawns, a gift which is much appreciated by those interested. The Bulls Club can claim to have done remarkably well during the short time it has been established. The green and appointments cost £1,400 to establish, and (he present liability represents only-£7OO.
