YESTERDAY’S LOAN POLL.
The majority of ratepayers evinced no interest in yesterday’s poll for the sanctioning of a loan of £2,500 for the purpose of assisting property owners in the reticulated area to connect their - premises with the public sewers on an instalment system. Out of a roll of 410, only 47 troubled to record their votes. The polling was as follows: —For 39, against 7, informal 1. The loan is for a period of seven years, hearing interest at 6 per cent., and will be repaid by the beneiiciaries in instalments, collected as a rate. The object sought is to assist those to connect with the sewerage system who are not in a position to make, immediate payment for connections, but who areA compelled to do so within a given time.
