MANAWATU ROWING CLUB.
There was an attendance of about a dozen at the meeting convened by the secretary of the Manawatu Rowing Club (iiuiorporated), held in Ross' Buildings on Thursday night. Mr R. Bryant presided. The secretary (Mr Jackson) explained that the object of the meeting was to discuss the steps to be taken re erection of shed and acquisition of site. He said an application had been made to the Harbour Board for the old site, but it had been used for building the dredge. The Club was in funds to the extent of £l3O, which amount was deposited jn the P.O. Savings Bank. The assets also included one or two boats. The Chairman said that prior to the war the Club was becomingvery popular, but the majority ot the young fellows interested in-row-ing had enlisted, and interest tor the time being had waned. The Club building had subsequently been destroyed by tire. The Club would require to acquire a site from the Board, and he did not anticipate that the building would cost more than £75, provided members assisted in its erection. They had on hand some timber for repairing the boats. New boats would require to be purchased.
After further discussion it was moved by Mr Ilornblow, seconded by Mr Christie, that the Chairman and Secretary bo authorised to take steps to secure a site and obtain an estimate of cost of building, and to report to a further meeting to be held that night fortnight. A vote of thanks to the Chairman concluded the meeting.
