MORE EARTHQUAKES.

SEVERE SHAKE AT TOKAANU. .MANY OTHERS OF LESS STRENGTH. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 12. The Government seismologist has received the following telegram thorn the postmaster at Tokaanu: ‘‘At 7.7 p.m. on Saturday a very severe earthquake was ielt, followed by about 20 shakes of less strength. The disturbance -subsided about 10 p.m. There was renewed activity this morning, but all the shakes were slight. The earthquake at 7.7 p.m. on Saturday appeared to he directly underneath, and it gave a very severe bump upwards, dislodging many articles on shelves. All the other quakes were from north to south.”
