IMPROVEMENT IN TRADE.
MANY ORDERS FOR COAL. OPTIMISM REGARDING FUTURE. LONDON, Si-pi. 4. The Welsh collieries had a splendid trade revival during August, the best for many years, the coal being rushed from pit to seaboard at a feverish pace. Many millions of foreign money has poured into South Wales in the last six weeks, arid the demand for coal for export is likely to continue for some months, although the price has advanced by 7s a ton m a few weeks. Other industries are also showing satisfactory enlargement',, and it is interesting to note that at yesterday s meetings of four important companies dealing with such varied interests as beer, margarine, wholesale drapery, and the West African trade, the chairmen were equallv optimistic regarding the future.
