,\ meeting of all those interested :ii the formation of a cricket club locally was held' in Mr Perreau’s rooms on Tuesday evening. Mr J. ('hrv-lall vva- voted lo tbeebair. Il was resolved |o form a club, and I lie annual subscription was iixed at ss. Il \va~. reported that there is at present a fair amount of equipment, with the ■ xceptitm of bats, and Messrs .'. i 'iiryslall and Howe generously A. .red to donate a hat each.

Mr Perreau in ana led that the Beautifying Society had made provision in their work on Easton Park for the laying down of a pitch, and Mr Chrystall pointed out that both the Beautifying Society and the Borough Council were sympathetic 1.. the encouragement of sport on the Park grounds, and these liodie.voiild do what they could t<> assist cricket in that respect. The secretary was requested to write to the Secretary of the Horov.heiiua Cricket Association, ask-ing-that body to do all they can to promote a Wednesday competition. It was left in the hands of the secretary and treasurer to canvass likely players and prospective members and arrange for a further meeting in the near future. A hearty vote of thanks to Mr Perreau for the use of his premises, and also to Mr Chrystall for presiding, lerminated the meeting. It behoves all interested in this sport to pull together and work enthusiastically for the establishment of cricket definitely again, and if this is done followers of the game can look forward to a successful season. v
