THE LOCAL SEASIDE.
AN APPRECIATION. At Saturday’s special meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board the following letter was read from the Beach Committee in appreciation of the late Mr W. Bock: —
“The Foxton Beach Improvement Committee desire to make some reference to itjhe loss sustained by the death of the late Mr W. Bock. The deceased gentleman had been a member of our committee since its formation, and always took a keen interest in, everything for the advancement of Foxton and the seaside. He strongly advocated the planting of trees every year and it is some satisfaction to know, he inspected the area planted, just previous to his death and expressed pleasure with'the work accomplished. By his generosity we were able to proceed with the erection of the Beach Hall and other improvements undertaken to popularise the seaside. He supported these things generously without any personal interest other than the public good. By his help we secured the reserve for the Recreation ground; also the Childrens'’ Home at the Beach had his hearty support and helped to make its establishment an accomplished fact. These actions speak for themselves.
To his relatives we can only express our deepest sorrow for the deaths of Mr and Mrs Bock, and hope their many acts of kindness will keep their memories green. (Signed) A. G. Dawick (chairman), E. R. B. Holben, Frank Kirk, D. J. Lovelock, C. H. Whitehead, ■ John K. Hornblow, John Chrystall, C. S. Larsen, J. Linklater.
