PRINCE PUNISHED.
TROUBLE CAUSED -IN SERVIA
BELGRADE, Aug. 19.
The Government has decided to strip Prince George of all the privileges of the Royal House and has prohibited his entering. Royal properties. Prince George abdicated in 1909 and returned .recently from abroad, causing trouble. He claims to be the direct heir to the throne as Alexander, who recently married, has no son. Prince George complains in the newspapers that the allowance the Government grants him is insufficient for his .exalted station.
The Government reply is that the income is sufficiently liberal, and that Prince George’s-behaviour is not what might be expected from a Royal prince. The Government warned him that if he persisted in his present course, it would be compelled to take action against him. Prince George replied that he would not be intimidated, and demanded to know what provision his father, the late King Peter, made for him. It is rumoured that King Peter’s will disappeared after his death.—A. and N.Z. cable.
