FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.
A meeting' of the Fox ton Harbour Board was held at Palmerston North yesterday. Present: —-Messrs J. Linklater (chairman), Barber, J. Chrystall, Holben, Clapham and Rimmer. A motion, of sympathy and condolence was passed to the relatives of the late Mr W. Bock, treasurer and member of the Board. The chairman and members spoke in appreciation of Mr Bock’s services to the Board and the resolution was ordered to be engrossed in' the minutes. It was resolved to call applications for the position of se--eretary. It was decided to continue 'tree planting at the seaside under the supervision of Mr Dawick. A letter was received from Mr Newman, M.P., informing the Board that there was very little hope of including an amendment to the Harbours Act, enabling Boards to arrange finance to assist shipping, in this session’s Washing-up Bill. —It was decided to endeavour to get the amendment included during this session.—'Several matters of detail were attended to and it was decided to meet at Foxton on September 2nd.
