BRITISH AND FOREIGN BIBLE SOCIETY.
VISIT OF ORGANISING SECRETARY. Last Tuesday afternoon Mrs Porter visited the Church ox England Guild and was introduced by Mrs Frank Robinson (the president of the Foxton branch of the Bible Society) and a pleasant and profitable time was spent, Mrs Porter giving an outline of the objects and aims of the society. On Wednesday afternoon Mrs Porter visited the Methodist Guild which was held at Mrs Walker’s, at which there was a good attendance. After a short address the collectors of last year willingly consented to do the work this year. Mrs Porter also addressed the Presbyterian Guild at Mrs Parlies’ residence. All present were greatly interested in hearing of the development of the work in New Zealand, especially, and decided when in Wellington to visit the Bible House. The Rev. Frank McDonald made a telling speech (after Mrs Porter had concluded) upon the great need of the Bible Society in the out-dis-tricts. He made a strong appeal to all to support the Bible Society in every way possible. During her stay in Foxton Mrs Porter was the guest of Mrs Frank Robinson.
