BANQUET TO MR ED. NEWMAN, M.P.
PREMIER AND CABINET MINISTERS TO ATTEND. PUBLIC MEETING IN TOWN HALL. Mr Ed. Newman’s supporters throughout this constituency felt that it was fitting that public expression should be given of his faithful services as member of this constituency since entering Parliament and the Manawatu Reform Party executive, decided to entertain him at a banquet prior to his retirement. It "was decided that the function be held at a date clear of the hustings and Monday, August 21st was decided on. The banquet will he held in Eoxton in the Masonic Hall. The Prime Minister, members of Cabinet and M.sP. will be in attendance to do honour to Mr Newman on the occasion. As many of Mr Newman’s supporters would be unable to attend the banquet and also to afford the public an opportunity of participating in the function it "was further decided to leave the speeches to a public meeting to be held in the Town Hall the same evening at' 8 o’clock. The banquet will be held at 6 p.m. Tickets for the banquet may be obtained locally from Mir G. Coley or at the Herald Office and in this connection no political distinction is made in the distribution of tickets. The invitation to the banquet is open to all who desire to purchase a ticket. The banquet and public meeting will be the largest political function of its kind yet held in this constituency and it is anticipated that the Town Hall will be filled to its utmost. capacity.
