PLAYING A BAD GAME.

TEACHING THE CHILDREN REVOLUTIONISM.

Recently there has been much discussion of what doctrines are being taught to the children attending Socialist Sunday Schools established in New Zealand. Mr E. J. Howard, M.P., says that love and goodwill is taught. Mr James avers that class hatred and secularism which amounts to an attack on Christianity is inculcated. Of this we are sure that Revolutionism is being presented in the most attractive guise all the time. How far this goes at times we showed in the following statement made by us last year. POISONING THE MINDS OF CHILDREN. Our reason for writing very plainly on this subject is that we find many people are led into a mistaken sympathy with the advocates of the ■revolutionary doctrines because of their desire to do justice to Labour. It is nearly time that thinking people recognised that this destructive'propaganda of class hatred is not Labour, but it is as dangerous to the genuine workers as anything can possibly be. That our criticism is none too drastic is shown by evidence we here present. GOSPEL OF HATRED.

“The Maoriland Worker” pub iishes week by week a column under the heading of the “Childrens Corner.” It is designed to instil Socialist ideas into the minds of the young. Under cover of much sentimental talk it takes steps to inculcate the passion of class hatred by the use of the most cunningly devised and unscrupulous insinuations. Here are two specimens of this insiduous propaganda of evil. Issue of 30th March. —When the Capitalist took the Carpenter and nailed him to the cross they thought they had killed the Labour movement.

Issue of the 16th April.’—“Last Monday I went up North to help win, or try to win, the Patea seat for Labour. We may not win Sunbeams, but we shall carry the message into that stronghold, and the next time we shall win. They cannot beat Labour Sunbeams. They have been trying ever since they crucified the Carpenter. Don’t forget, Sunbeams the Carpenter was crucified for defying the moneybugs of His day.
