Lympne Castle, an historiee landmark near Hythe, Kent, is reported to be for sale. The castle occupies a position on a high hill overlooking the Channel and the coast from Folkeston to Hastings. It dates from the fourteenth century, and once formed the residence of the Archdeacons of Canterbury. It is believed to occupy the site of an old Roman watchtower. On the southern slope of the estate are the ruins of Stidfall Castle, which cover an area of about 12 acres, They form the remains of the ancient Roman castrum of Portus Lemanis.
