THE FAMOUS N.Z. DIGGERS.
TOWN HALL, MONDAY NEXT, .JULY 31 ST. The Famous Diggers have been so long entertaining the public of NewZealand that they have become part of our national life. They are certainly very popular and although sentiment, played a big part in this in the beginning, they now stand entirely on their own merits as entertainers. That they are able to do this as well as any show travelling is evidenced by the fact that they are greeted by large audiences everywhere they go. In fact, in the South Island recently, they broke all records for attendance, and at Invercargill letters appeared in the papers protesting that the Digges should Rave played more than two nights in the town to enable all intending patrons to see. the The fact is that the Diggers give a performance which is at all times meritorious, never mediocre, and always a hundred per cent, entertainment. ~, ; , voi. i
Joe Valli, the little Scotchman who made us laugh so heartily last time, is still a shining luminary in a constellation, of star., artists. Gus. Dawson,.an old friend, has recently rejoined the company after a big engagement with .J. C. Williamson. He brings some fresh novelties to the show, notably his dancing scena “The Scarecrow” introducing the novel’scene of a scarecrow awakening and indulging in moonlight re-, yels Which are interrupted by the an’ival of dawn. Frank Moran’s new humourosities, Fred Webber’s piano sketches and a fine selection of popular songs add considerable support to what is considered the Diggers’ ‘best yet.’ The Orchestra, strong and musical as ever maintains that standard of musical efficiency that has always brought them into prominence.
