PRUNING DEMONSTRATION.

Mi* J. W. Whelan, Government Orchard Instructor, gave a demonstration of fruit tree pruning at Mr R. J. Thompson’s farm, Avenue Road, on Thursday afternoon. There was a large attendance including 'a number of ladies and Mr. J. Banks, headmaster of the local State school and the boys of standards 5,6/ and 7: '- : '• Mr Whelan took great pains to make points very clear to all, inviting and answering questions. A vote of thanks was accorded both to Mr Whelan and to Mr Thompson. Mrs Thompson kindly provided afternoon tea for the visitors.
