FOXTON RACING CLUB.
The annual meeting of members of the Foxton Racing Club will be held in the Town Hall supper-room on Friday next at 8 p.m. The report to be submitted is as follows “Tour committee have pleasure in presenting the Report and Balancesheet for the period ending 30th June, 1922, and which shows the Club to be in a thoroughly satisfactory position. Receipts generally showed a decrease on the previous year, due to the abnormal depress sion prevailing but it should be noted that lftst year’s receipts considerably more than in 1920. Due, however,' to the foresight dis-played-by the Committee iu reducing the stakes by £I,OOO, the Club emerged from the worst financial year on record in New Zealand without any- liabilities at all, and at ihe same time a credit balance at the Bank of £296 2s 8d and assets totalling £5,220 15s Bd. The amount paid to the Government in taxation during the year was £3,230 19s 9d, made up as follows: Totalisator £999 8s 6d, Dividends £1,799 6s od, Stakes £3OO, Privileges (gates, booths, etc.) £23 12s Od, Amuse- / ment Tax £B2 5s od, Income Tax .616 10s 7d, Land Tax £9 17s Bd. During the year the balance of the top-dressing at the back of the course was. completed, and a con- j siderable amount of the inside railing was renewed; negotiations for the Club’s properties in Whyte St. / were completed. The question of a new Stewards’ stand and the building of offices and committee-room in town are under consideration and will be dealt, with by the incoming Committee. The Club has been allotted Saturday and Monday, 20th and 22nd January, 1923, for the next Race meeting, and th & Stewards are in communication with the totalisator proprietors in regard to introducing the ten-shilling totalisator. Recently, the Manawatu Racecourse trustees visited the course and the Club’s properties, 'and e&pressed their appreciation of the thoroughly satisfactory position of affairs. It is with 'deep regret that we have to record the deaths of Mr Frank Stubbing and Ar-: thur Reeve, for many years members of the Club.” Ten nominations have been received for the election of three stewards, namely Messrs A. E. Admore, J. W. Bowe, R. Bryant, H, Coley, A. P. Easton, H. G. Hammond, R. Heppner, R. Rangiheuea, A. N. Smith, F. D. Wbibley. Messrs Bryant, H. Coley and Hammond are the sitting members and are eligible for re-election. .' The following notices of motion will be dealt with: — v -s, By the President :—(1). That Dr. * C. L. Mandl be elected a life member of the Club. By Mr A. N., Smith: —(2). That Rule 15, page 5, be altered to read “Delete from the word ‘if’ on line 4 to the word ‘Treasurer’ on line 7.” By Mr G. C. Coley:— (3). That Rule 21, page 7, after the word “vote” on the 3rd line, add: “That any- absent member shall, on application to the secretary within seven days prior to the Annual General Meeting, be entitled to receive a voting paper. Such ballot paper , to be sealed and returned-to th# chairman by 8 p.m. on the night of the annual general meeting.” By Air J. Y. Burr: —(4). Proposed amendments to the following rules: (a). Rule B.—Delete all words down to word “staisfactory.” (b). Rule 15.—Delete the numeral “9” appearing in the third line and in lieu thereof insert the numeral “12.” (e). Rule 16.—Delete the word “Annual” in the fii’st jiine and in lieu thereof insert the words “Halfyearly.” (d). Rule 19. —-Delete the word “or” in the second line and substitute same by a comma; and after the word “special” in the same tine the words “general or management committee” be inserted, (e). Rule 34. —Delete the word “Commit- : y tee” in the second line and in lieu ■ thereof insert the word.“members.’?
