“FANTOMAS.”
“Now boys, make this a real fight,” called out Director Edward Sedgwick to the roughest hunch of “stage crooks” ever gathered together. and to about eight stage cops who also looked “hard-boiled. Sedgwick was making a scene in (lie Fox studios in New York for the new William Fox serial “Fantomns,” which is based on the detective stories by Pierre Souvestre and Marcel A 11ain and which is now being shown at the Royal Theatre every Friday. He cried “Lights” and “Camera,” and for three minutes there was the liveliest scrimage imaginable. There was one more crook than there were cops, and this fellow began his lone hand game by bouncing a chair off another crook’s head. When the fight was over this man’s head had i\~ fine large hump. Another man had several scratches on his chin. Another had his coat torn off his back, while still another had a strained shoulder. The combatants were all winded and puffing. However, all were laughing and taking the fight in good part —until Sedgwick said jokingly: “Well, boys, let’s do it over again.” Saturday: Special Matinee, Charlie Chaplin in his latest: “Henpecked Spouse.” Saturday night: “A Perfect Crime,” a striking comedy drama.
