CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
The monthly meeting of the Foxton Chamber of Commerce was held in the Town Hall Supper-room on Thursday evening. Present: —Messrs Perreau (in the chair), Jno. Ross, Follas, Pearson, Christie and the secretary. Correspondence was received from the Association of'N.Z. Chambers of Commerce, acknowledging receipt of letter endorsing the Dannevirke Chamber’s resolution for the appointment of Wellington as the most suitable and' convenient place of meetings for the annual'conferences, and advising the Executive does not determine the question of fixing the place of meetings.—Received. From the Chairman of “Associated Banks”, advising that the rate of interest on overdraft will be reduced as soon ag the financial eondilions in the Dominion permit. —Received. From the local Stationmaster ac- ./ knowledging receipt of letters re time table and heaters in carriages, and advising that both applications have been forwarded to the District Traffic Manager, Wanganui, for His consideration. —Received. Accounts amounting to 12/- were passed for payment. Ihe Secretary ‘ submitted the draft of a circular letter to be sent to settlers inland about Marotiri re connection with the local exchange.— Decided to have sanww' sent out immediately. /* .Messrs C. M. Ross Co. offered a room suitable for the Chamber’s monthly meeting at a nominal rental. —Decided to hold consideration of same for next meeting. It was decided to hold' future’ meetings on the last Thursday ineach month. A motion of sympathy was passed to Mr A. N. Smith (President) in his illness and wishing him a speedy recovery. .
