ROYAL PICTURES

There will be no pictures to-night. “The Blood Barrier” of “Diamond Cut Diamond,” screening on Friday,

is-the latest vehicle in which the popular stars, Sylivia Breamer and Robert Gordon, are featured. This story is taken from the novel by Townsend Brady and it tells of the efforts of foreign agents to obtain a set of certain dye formulae in the possession of the hero. The play is one that affords the popular stars some of their best opportunities which they handle to the best advantage. There are many striking and thrilling situations in this picture, the shooting of Solari, the escape of Enid and the trial scene are all well presented. There is a big supporting cast in the feature of William Dunn as the villian. It is doubtful if any detective serial released up to the present time comes nearer doing the things desired of a screen continued story than the Fox serial “Fantomas,” judging by the first four episodes of two xeels each. A certain quality of suspense has been realised here which, coupled with live, palpitating drama and occasional bursts of excellent melodrama, gives it an irresistible appeal. It sets a terrific pace for itself, and lives up to it admirably. This serial will be shown as an extra on Friday.
