FOOTBALL.

The weekly meeting of the Horowhenua Rugby Union was held at Levin on Tuesday evening, Mr E. J. Nash presiding. On Mr F. D. Whibley’s motion, it was resolved that J. Hakaraia and Webbev, of Otaki Old Boys, and A. Bevan, of Hui Mai, be suspended pending their appearance before the Union on Tuesday next. The Oroua Rugby Union wrote enquiring if July was suitable for ti match with Horowhenua. It was decided to reply that- July was unsuitable and that Horowhenua would communicate later re a date for a fixture. It was resolved that the Third Grade play a third round. The ease arising out of the Shannon football fracas was mentioned and it was decided on the motion of Mr Dixon, that H. McDonald, L. Buekman, J. Young, and H. Buckman be warned to appear before the Union next Tuesday. The Union decided to nominate H. ’.Jacob and R. Moynihan for inclusion in the North Island rep. team. The country unions are getting plenty of attention from the N.Z. R-L. officials this season. At the Rangitikei-Horowhenun match in Levin several members of the Management Committee of the N.Z. Union were present and at the Manawatu-Horowhenua game the New Zealand selectors will be in attendance. The Maori Rugby team will play r their first match in Australia to-day. Saturday.
