Manawatu Herald. THURSDAY, JUNE 15, 1922. ALLEGED BOYCOTT

WE are informed that a boycott has been instituted against a local business man by an extreme section in the community for the reason that he refused to support a certain proposal in his public capacity. If this is true it indicates the contemtible extreme to which some people will resort if they cannot get people to think along>the same lines with them. To attempt to injure a man in his private life or business for his convictions expressed in a public capacity is the weapon of the “bully.” In fairness to the great majority of the public of Foxton, however, we may say that they have a higher sense of British fair play towards those who sacrifice time in the public interest, no matter how they may differ in opinions. We hope to be able to get the full details of this attempted bludgeoning episode and will expose it in the public interest.
