MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.
At last Tuesday’s meeting of the Manawatu County Council the Engineer reported as follows on the Awahou riding:— The contract for the supplying and delivering metal on the FoxtonShannon road has been completed, and the contractor is making good progress with the construction of stop bank near'tfye Shannon bridge. I have arranged with the above contractor to form up the FoxtonShannon road deviation,, 33ft wide, for the sum of 23s per chain. Mr Bell has delivered approximately-76 yards of metal to repair damage caused by carting- 800 tons of flax over the Foxton-Shannon road to the Whitaunui flaxmill, and declines to supply any more metal for repairing that section of road, which is damaged by his flax carts. Only a portion of the road in question has been repaired, and another 80 to 100yds to put the road in the same order as it was before the flax carting commenced. Mr F.- S. Easton has made a first-elas.s job of forming up the Kari Kari road. Tramway.—During the month we have relayed about 16 chains of 40 lb rails, and at the end of the present week we shall he clear of the southern end of the Taikorea siding. Stone-crusher.—The stone-crus-her has beeen working exceedingly well during-the past month, having, crushed 1,090 cubic yards of metal, which has been delivered to the various sidings.
