ROYAL PICTURES.
To-night’s programme .will contain two star features. Admirers of William Russell are promised an extraordinary treat in “The Roof Tree.” This’ Fox picture is based on a story by Charles Neville Buck, an author who is at home in the hills of Kentucky and Virginia, and is thoroughly familiar wiih the traditions of that portion of the country. One .of the.jnost mystifying stories ever screened has been used to bring Barbara Bedford before the public as a star. She is to make her debut in this capacity to-night in the Fox production “Cinderella of the Hills.” The tale is of a girl of the Ozark Mountains, mistreated and misunderstood, who stands out against the rest of her nvorld in a fight for right. An engineer comes to her father’s home to sink oil wells and becomes interested in the girl’s case. He finally helps her to happiness; but not until he has solved several puzzling questions. Usual prices Lovers of the poet comb Riley, wall find much to x their delight in Charles Ray’s latest starring attraction at the Royal on Friday. This picture adapted from the poem, gives Mr Ray some of the best opportunities he has yet had. He excels himself in the role of the country youth who is always in scrapes and mischief, and who would rather spend the day at “The Old Swimmin’ Hole” than go to 'school. The picture is one that furnishes delightful entertainment for both young and old.
