POLICE COURT

At the local police Court yesterday, before Messrs Hornblow and Perreau, J.’sP., V. Betty, charged by the police with riding a bicycle on the foothpath contrary to the Borough by-laws, was convicted and fined 5s and 7s costs. George Urwin, Edward Tollison, Stanley O’ Reilly and V. McDowell charged with riding bicycles after dark without lights were each fined 5s and costs 7s.

Constable Owen stated that if the practice of riding bicycles without lights at night time was not discontinued he must, in the public safety, ask for a more substantial penalty. In the civil ease, C. Pratt and Co. (assignees of D. W. Robertson and Co.) v. Mary Free, claim, £8 7s 9d, judgement was given by default with costs, £1 15s fid.
