VALEDICTORY.

PRESENTATION TO THE REV. AND MRS HALLIDAY.

The Presbylerian Ladies Social Guild entertained their president, All's .Holliday, at a valedictory social in the school-room yesterday afternoon. Representatives of other organisations with which Airs Holliday is associated, were also present. At a suitable juncture, ALss Duncan, on behalf of the ladies of (he Church, presented All's Holliday with a gold brooch as a token of esteem and expressed regret: at her approaching departure from Foxton. Airs F. Robinson on behalf of orga nis at. ion s' i n which she had been associated with Airs Holliday locally, paid a tribute to the guest’s energies and endorsed the remarks of the previous speaker. Airs Haliiday, in acknowledging the token of appi'eeiation, feelingly thanked the.speakers for their |tindly expressions and said she would ever remember the many kindnesses extended to her hv Foxton friends.

Afternoon tea was dispensed and musical items l-endered by Airs Slade and Misses Patterson and Spiers. Competitions were won by Mesdames MeColl and Perreau. At the conclusion “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow” and “Auld Lang Syne” were ■sung.

At the Glen Oroua Public Hall on Tuesday night a pi'esentation of a travelling rug was made to the Rev. and Mrs ITalliday by the Glen Oroua members of the Presbyterian Chxircli. Tiie presentation was made, at I lie request of (lie donors, by Mr Hornblow, who referred to the esteem in which the Rev. and Airs Haliiday were held throughout the charge and the general regret, fell al their departure. The gift symbolised the warmth of feeling which existed between the Congregation and recipients, to whom was conveyed their best wishes and God’s blessing in their new sphei'e of labour.

9he Rev. Haliiday feeling responded and thanked the GJen Oroua folk fur their token of goodwill and kindlv wishes.
