FIRE BRIGADE.

At the mouthy meeting of the Foxton Volunteer Fire Brigade held on Tnesdav evening, Supt. Hamer . presided over a good Apologies for absence were received from several members. A letter from the Fielding Fire Board offering their second-hand motor Fire wagon for sale, cash, was read and discussed. It was decided to reply that a Fire Board was about to he formed in Foxton, and that, the letter would then be brought under the notice of the Board. It was decided to write to the Borough Council• asking them for information regarding progress towards the formation of. the Fire Board. The secretary was also instructed to ask the Council for a refund for the last lot of acid and soda purchased by the brigade. Mr Stevenson tendered his resignation as Deputy-Superintendent, in favour of Mr McDermid, who, he said, has had long experience in high-pressure work with the Feilding Brigade, and would fill the position more capably and fittingly. Mr Perreau moved, seconded by Mr Nattrass, that- the resignation he accepted with regret. Mr Smith moved an amendment seconded by Mr Head,,that the re- f signation be held over until the annual meeting,gsueh annual meeting to be held- the first Tuesday in June.^' The motion was carried. Messrs Pearson and Head then proposed -Mr-MeDermid as DeputySuperintendent, who was elected unanimously. Mar McDermid briefly returned thanks. •"'-It'-was -decided;' after some discussion, that an..Annual Ball he held and the following committee wa* formed to make arrangements: — Superintendent, V Deputy-Superin-tendent, Secretary, Messrs Head and Nattrass.
