ADDRESS BY DR. T. J. ROWLEY.

In spite of the very wet night a large number of girts of St. Monica’s Guild attended a t All Saints SchoolroorA td listen to an address by Dr. T. J. Rowley on the use and general: care’ of the teeth. . . In language stripped of all techineality and easily understood by his hearers, Dr. Rowley explained the development of both the temporary and permanent, teeth, the’eruption of the foimer and their succession by the latter. He stressed the importance of the first permanent teeth erupted Avhen the child is six years of age, pointing out that these teeth are very easily mistaken for temporary ones. He said that too much attention could not be paid to the cleaning of the teeth, it being absolutely necessary to remove all particles of food, especially before retiriifg at night and mentioned some of the preparations Avhieh lie considered most efficient for the purpose. In conclusion Dr Rowley read a paper on the dentist’s responsibility to the child, pointing out that neglect of the temporary teeth led to irregularity and in many cases' complete loss of the permanent ones. The address was listened to with great interest and at its conclusion Mrs Walton thanked the speaker on behalf of his hearers, expressing the opinion that it had proved most instructive and enjoyable.
