FOOTBALL
MEETING OF UNION. ' A meeting of the Horowhenua Rugby Union was held on Tuesday evening. The following delegates were present: Messrs E. J. Nash (chairman), R. W. Percy, W. Bevan, Dixon, M. Winiata, Father Vibaud, W. Thomson and L. S. Carmichael (lion, secretary). It was decided to write the Rangitikei Union and invite them to play a match for the' Bebbington Shield at Levin on Wednesday, May 24; also that Mr Parata would witness the game, if arranged, in view of selecting the Maori team to tour Australia.
The Union considered, the protest of the Rovers against Tokomaru far the match last Saturday, when it stated that the latter played a senior player, A. George. It was decided that the match he replayed at a later date.
Tokomaru applied for the reinsfa'tenienf "of eight players? as juniors. This was granted in the case of .seven.
The sum of £5 Avas donated to the Horowhenun Referees’ Association. A rep. match with Manawatu was set down to be played at Levin on dime 24 next.
It was decided to reinstate Tago, of Levin, and March Miles as junior players. .
Messrs Nash, Dixon and Percy were appointed a classification committee.
