The secretary of the local club has received the following letter from the Horowhenua Rugby Union: — •“I have been instructed to inform you that Rule 17 in ‘Rules of Club contests’ which reads as follows will be strictly enforced this season. Rule 17: ‘All players must he financial with their dubs by May Jlst, by which time all secretaries of chibs must send in to the Hon. Secretary of the Union all duplicate receipts. A club playing an unfinaneial member shall forfeit the match. Players who have not paid their club subscription by May 31st. shall be suspended till such subscriptions are paid. Players may become financial by paying arrears v of subscriptions to any member of the Committee or to the Referee of a match.’ In addition to club subscriptions' the secretaries of clubs must collect 2s fid per man independent of grade for insurance is compulsory and is to he collected by clubs. The benefits derived from scheme for players is Rule 4 of ‘lnsurance against Accident’ fund amendment to read as follows: —
‘Each player entitled to participate in the fund shall be paid £1 per week whilst unable Jo follow his occupation by reason of an accident received whilst playing football in any of the games indicated in Rule f> hereof: but in no case shall a claimant receive payment for a longer period than ten weeks. No player shall he entitled to the payment provided for by these regulations who shall play football within eight davs of the accident* in reaped to which tho claim is made.’
