Manawatu Herald THURSDAY MAY 4, 1922. A TELEPHONE GRIEVANCE.
AFTER wailin«? for nearly threequarters of an hour last night, to get telephone eoininunieation with Palmerston North, a local subscriber gave it up as hopeless. After 7 pan. Palmers!on connections are made via Levin. There is no complaint against the local telephone bureau for laxity. On the contrary, the local staff is most obliging, .but they are subject to Levin’s convenience or demands. The present slate of things is most unsatisfactory and requires attention. The local Chamber of Commerce lias called attenlion to the inconvenience caused to local subscribers by the present arrangements and has suggested a separate wire l with Palmerston. \Ye believe the local postmaster has endorsed and recommended (his suggestion lo headquarters. The loss of revenue to the Department from cancellation of calls would more than justify a separate wire. In view "of this, there is no justification for penalising Foxton. We hope Heps will be taken immediately to remedy the present unsatisfactory arrangements.
