WHAT IT COSTS TO RUN. YEAR’S ESTIMATES TABLED. Estimates of t.he receipts and expenditure for the Palmerston North Hospital Board for the year ending March 31st, 1923, were submitted at the last meeting of the Hospital Board. RECEIPTS. The receipts were set down as follows: —Credit balance £1,094 5s fid, outstanding subsidy £lO4 13s Bd, payments by patients (estimated) £3,500, payments, by inmates Old People’s Home £I,OOO, payments by recipients of charitable aid £4OO, sale of pigs £IOO, land agents’ licenses £2OO, donations and subsidy £1,200; total, £7,598 ' 19s 2d, to which is added contributions from local bodies at. 11s 4:,'d in £I,OOO, £15,227 5s 9d, subsidy on same at 12s 3d, £9,320 14s 3d; a total of £24,554. EXPENDITURE. The expenditure is estimated as follows, that of last year where quoted being placed in parentheses: —Maintenance of buildings and grounds at hospital £1,400, Old People's Home £OOO. Salaries and administration (£8,371), hospital £S,OOO, Old People’s Home £BOO, charitable aid £250. Uniforms (£128), hospital £l3O, Old People's Home £lO. Provisions (£2,928), hospital £3,000, Old People’s Home £SOO. Surgery and dispensary (£2,043)’ hospital £2,000. Wines and spirits (£65), hospital £IOO, Old People’s Home £4O. Furniture and earthenware (£540), hospital £550, Old People’s Home £SO. Bedding and drapery (£325), hospital £350, Old People’s Home £IOO, charitable aid £lO. Fuel and lighting (£3,928), hospital £3,750, Old People’s Home £340, charitable aid £4O. Laundry chandlery and water (£318),' hospital £450, Old People’s Home £IOO. Insurance (£155), hospital £l6O, Old People’s Home £ls. Ambulance (£250), hospital £250, Old People’s Home £ls, charitable aid £6O. Administration (see salaries) hospital, £1,300. From the above it will be seen that last year’s expenditure totalled £23,768. For the current year the total estimates are: —Hospital £24,653, Old People’s Home £2,880, charitable aid £4,020; grand total, £31,553. CAPITAL ACCOUNT.
The statement of receipts and expenditure on the capital account is as follows: — RECEIPTS.
Capital levy on local bodies, £530 9s 4d; subsidy, £530 9s 4d; special capital contribution from Horowhenua County and subsidy, £1,000; loan from Public Trustee, £3,000; total, £5,060 18s Bd. EXPENDITURE. Debit balance 1/4/22, £1,084 2s 4d; sinking fund, £568; architects, £817; new set accumulators, £1,500; boilers heating wards at night, £491 lfis 4d; total, £5,060 18s Bd.
