CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

A special meeting of the Council of the local Chamber of Commerce was- held on Tuesday afternoon to fix a date for conference between Palmerston, Levin, Feilding and Foxton Chambers of Commerce, Foxton Harbour Board, and Mannwatu County Council and Flaxmillers’ Association, rc matters affecting the local port. There were present: Messrs Smith (president), Christie, Jno. Ross, Moorhouse, Whibley, Ilornblow, and the secretary (Mr Rangiheuea). Correspondence was read from tiie Palmerston Chamber, asking the Foxton Chamber to fix a suitable time. It was decided to fix the 27th inst., at 7.15 p.m. The subject of drawing up agenda paper was discussed. It was resolved to ask the chairman of the Harbour Board to outline the administration of the Board, and (lie prospects of facilitating regular shipping, shipping interests to deal with freights and coastal shipping; Flaxmillers' Association to submit comparative freights, and fo discuss other mattefs of interest concerning the industry, and its bearing bn thy port, and the other delegates to introduce any other subject, of commercial interest to the district.
