FESTAL FAIR.

In connection with the Festal Fair of last week, which proved so successful, the following is a list of the stalls. and workers, and the successful winners of the competitions :

Sewing Stall: Mesdames G. Honore and Cowley; Produce Stall, Mrs Pilmer, Miss Rene Moffatt and Mr -F. 11. Stanley; Sweet and Cake Stall, Mesdames Oxley, Minitie and Taylor; .Jumble Stall, Mesdames W. Bullard, Chalk and Rimmer; Flower Stall, Misses M. Walker and C. Honore; Ice Cream and Fruit Salad, Misses Chalk. Parkin, Scadden, Spring, and Mesdames Lever and Spring: Tea Rooms, Mesdames Ashmore and Parkin; Village Pump and Baker’s Oven, Miss Avis borne. Many willing assistants * aided with the side shows and competitions.

The results of competitions were as follows: —Lamb (first day), weight 541b5., correctly judged by Mi- H. Skellen and Mr C. H. Symons. Sweet Stall cake, weight 51b. 340z5., nearest judge, 51hs. 3ozs., by Mrs L. Bullard. Palmerston Trip, weight of package 51bs. llozs., nearest judge, s:;lhs.. Mr Bowater. Supper cloth, weight of package 31bs. sozs., exact judge, Mr E. Westwood. Purse, weight of package HHozs., judged by Mrs L. Bullard. Tearoom cake, weight 41bs. lliozs., nearest judge 41bs. lOozs., Miss Laura Robinson. D’ovleys, weight of Rosebud, winner C. Nelson. Bed-making for men won by Mr W. Coley; prize, fancy cushion. Picture on Flower Stall, weight of Rosebud 351b5., successful judge, Miss Mclntyre. lee Cream Stall cake, weight 81hs. Gozs., successful judge, Mrs A. Osborne. Sheep (second day), 331hs. weight, ’judged by i: Miss'Cdnhie r Gregory and Mr F. Rout. Striped cushion, gent’s weight, lOst. 21bs., nearest judge lOst. 2Albs., Mrs Taylor. Candlelighting, prize “humpty-dumpty,” won by Mr F. Rout. Length of pole, 19ft. logins., nearest judge 39ft. llins. Lady’s garment, won by Miss H. Morgan. The details of some two or tlir?A other competitions have not yet been supplied to the secretary, and will he published- later.

On the closing night of the Fair, during an interval in the screening of the pictures, the Rev. L. on behalf of the Church officials^ 1 ® thanked all for their ind in connection with 'the effort. Special was made of the {shannon Picture Co. ,and a firm of film distributors in Wellington for use of films free. Reference was also made to the services of Air Horace Reid for operating and aid in the hall. Special mention was made of the excellent advertisements given by the “Herald,” Air Alinifie stating that much of' the success of the Fair was due lo the Press campaign, concluding with the advice to the audience, “It ■pays to advertise.” The best thanks of the officials is due to the ladies of the Church, in Foxton, and others from Shannon and Oroua Downs; to the men’s committee, for general work; to all who donated gifts to the various stalls, and to the following firms outside of Foxton who responded to the request for gifts Amber Tips Tea Coy., Glaxo Cov., Svdal Coy., Highlander Alilk Co., L. D. Nathan and Co., Horton and Co’s. Nurseriesjy--Te Aro Seed Coy., Goldingham and’ Beckett, Hodder and Tolley, Palmers’ Poultry Coy., Purity Prpducts Co., Aulsebrooks’, P.D.C., .Palmerston 'North., Colliuson hameT Palmerston North, Edmond’s Baking Powder Coy., and Boumeville Cocoa Coy.

In connection with the Fair, a Rosebud competition was conductecd. The calculations giving the exact position of the candidates have yet to be made, and will be published in a later issue.
