DROWNING FATALITY.
BODIES RECOVERED,
After a search extending over five days, the remaining body of Sunday afternoon’s boating fatality,- that of Mr Peter Baker, was recovered yesterday afternoon,- at about 1.30 o’clock. e
The body was found in from nine to twelve feetsof water, some 30 yards from the spot where the body of-Mr “Skip” Baker was found, a little to the south, and nearer the shore, some 300 yards from the western hank. .
Mr Peter Robinson, who with others was assisting the police in the search, felt the body on the bottom With a pole, and it was not long before it was raised and placed in the boat. /
Both deceased brothers had watches in their clothes at the time of the accident, and both watches had stopped, with some three minutes difference between them, at 5.45, thus indicating that the accident occurred about that time last Sunday evening.
Both bodies were near the spot indicated by the lad Gupwell, only a little nearer the western shore. The body of Mr Peter Baker was conveyed to Otaki last night, where the burial 1 will take place..' The funeral of the late Mr S. M. (“Skip”) Baker took place on, Thursday afternoon, from his late residency, A venue, Road, and was largely' attended. The ceremony at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. •W. Walton. The funeral arrangements were carried, out by .the local Oddfellows’ Lodge, of which deceased was a member, the brethren also acting as pall bearers. The casket was covered,., with beautiful flora! tributes.
An inquest touching the death of the two deceased brothers will be held on Monday.-
