WATER AND DRAINAGE.
’ ENGINEER’S REPORT. , The following l-eport was submitted at Monday night's Borough Council meeting by the Engineers: — “We have to repor-l as follows on the above works: “Septic Tank. —A total, of 75 e. yards have been placed in position, the concrete walls being now up abont. half their final height. “Water Tower.—The contractor continues to make good progress on this’work, and 1 lie tower has now been/ coneleted up to 44 feet above the foundation slab. “Water Pipe Laying Contract. — Mr Climie does not recommend the Council to accept the tender for the above work submitted to him, as he considers the contract price excessive, in fact, he considers Air King’s estimate is ample. Mr Climie is endeavouring to ascertain if the services of a well-known pipe-layer are available, in which case he will recommend the Council to proceed with the pipe-laying by day labour under this man as foi'eman.” The report was adopted.
