ELECTRIC POWER BOARD.
SUGGESTED COMBINED LOAN. Danpevirke, March 21. The Dannevirke Power Board has decided to be the proposed conference of Rangitikei, Dannevirke, and Horowhenua ElecIric Power Boards with a view to raising a joint loan on the London market and arranging a deputation to the Minister of Public Works, asking for Government backing for a combined loan. It was also decided to suggest to (lie conveners of the conference, the Manawatu-Oroua Electric Power Board, that the Wanganui, Wairarapa and any other boards directly interested be invited to attend the -'conference. MEETING OF HOROWHENUA BOARD. A meeting of the Horowhenua Electric Power Board was held at Levin yesterday. Present: Messrs Monk (chairman), Matheson, Gunning, Seifert, Kilsby, W. E. Barber, F. D. Whibley, Brown, McKay, and the acting-secretary (Mr Goldsmith). ' It was decided to call applications 0r the position of engineer. In order to provide security for loan, it.was decided, at next ordinary meeting, to strike a rate of onetenth of a penny in the £ on the unimproved value over the whole of the Board district, the valuation of which is seven million pounds. It was pointed out that the rate would not be called,tip. t The acting-secretary presented a lengthy report on his visit to districts served by electric power in the north. The Chairman and Messrs Seifert and the acting-secrelarv were appointed to attend the conference to be held at Palmerston re raising combined loan.
