INQUEST.
ON BODY OF UNIDENTIFIED MAN. INVESTIGATIONS BEING MADE IN CHRISTCHURCH. An inquest was opened by Mr Fraser, eoroner, at the Court House vesterday, touching the death of the man, as yet unidentified, whose body was found on the river bank near Hartley’s Bend on Saturday. Evidence as to the finding of the body was given by W. Andresen, and the police as to removing the body to the morgue. On the application of the police, the inquest' was adjourned until Monday next, in order to afford an opportunity to identify deceased. The body was interred in the local cemetery on Sunday. We are informed by the police that the clothes deceased was wearing were made by a Christchurch tailoring firm. The shirt, collar had the initials “T.J.A.” written on it. Enquiries are being made at Christchurch. In the pockets of deceased’s clothes were found two shillings, a pocket knife, tobacco, and a map with marks against certain places, and a handkerchief.
