GRUESOME FIND.

FULLY DRESSED DECOMPOSED BODY OF MALE. AT HARTLEY’S BEND. BODY UNIDENT IFIED. Mr* W. Andresen, a local fisherman, discovered the body of a man at a spot above high-water mark, at Hartley’s Bend, ibis morning, about five miles below Fox ton. , Tie immediately communicated with the police. Constables Owen and O’Donoghue proceeded to the locality by launch and removed the body to the morgue. The body is that of a thick-set middle-aged men, about sft. Tin. high, dark hair, inclined to he bald in places, full face, cilean shaved, clothed in dark tweed overcoat,' bine vicuna suit, dark knitted sox, tan hoots with diamond-sliaped- protectors, single starch collar, dark tie, woollen underpants and singlet, white shirt with black-stripes. There was nothing in the pockets of deceased’s clothing to assist identification.

From appearances the body had been in the water for some time, and had possibly been washed down in the.recent flood, or may have been brought in from the sea during the recent heavy weather. The police have communicated with other centres to ascertain if any person answering to the above description is missing. Up to the time of going to press there was no clue to deceased’s identification.
