BETTING WITH INFANTS.
A HEAVY FINE. Auckland, Last Eight. At the Police Court, Walter Preston was fined £SO for betting with an infant. A lad of 17 years and 10 months gave evidence that he had made bets with accused outside the Xakapuna course on January 31st. He had previously had bets with the accused. Preston’s record showed 38 previous convictions, including betting, playing two-up, and other offences connected with gambling.
